Our Story: The History Of Bison Barn
Bison Barn is located at 281 Upper Widgee Road, Widgee QLD 4570. The reception venue is a 20m x 12m barn situated on a beautiful 110-acre farm.
Bison Barn began its journey in May 2022 when owners Ashley and Josie exchanged their vows at what would become their cherished venue.
What started as a simple idea for a rustic, countryside wedding has since blossomed into a go-to destination for couples looking for an affordable, DIY wedding experience. The barn has evolved over time, embracing its natural beauty and offering couples the flexibility to create their dream day with the vendors and decorations that best suit their style.
Our vision is simple: to provide a stunning yet budget-friendly wedding venue where love stories can unfold amidst the beauty of Widgee’s countryside. With each event, Bison Barn has grown into more than just a venue—it’s a place where unforgettable memories are made, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Q. Do you have a maximum number of guests?
We have a max capacity of 100 people
Q. Is camping allowed for guests?
We allowing camping on site free of charge for all guests the night of the wedding and up to 10 guests the night before the wedding
Q. Do you have a noise curfew?
Yes, Gympie Council requires all excessive noise to cease at 10pm. Guests can continue to party in the camping area ensuring that the noise is not excessive
Q. Do you have access to power?
The barn has access to 240 volt power with multiple power points inside and outside as well as two 15 amp power points outside for food trucks
Q. Do you have access to water?
We can supply a 40L jug of drinking water for guests if required
Q. Do you have recommended vendors or can we choose our own?
We have a list of previous vendors who have used the barn however you are free to choose any vendors you like and are not locked in to any preferred vendors
Q. Do you have toilet or shower facilities?
No, toilets and ensuites can be hired through local vendors
Q. Do you have catering facilities?
No, we suggest hiring mobile catering or food vans
Q. When can we access the property?
Couples have exclusive access to the property from 10am the day before the event to set up until 12pm the day after the event to pack up
